The Wizard Nebula, NGC7380, lies toward the constellation Cepheus. It consists of a young, open star cluster in the middle which ionizes the surrounding pocket of hydrogen and oxygen gasses. This creates an emission nebula that actually glows, faintly.
This experimental image was shot through my 6” achromat telescope that I use mainly for solar photography. For this image, I configured for high resolution nebula imaging. This Hubble palette-look was created with just Ha and OIII filters and some fun channel mixing. Hydrogen appears in copper tones, balanced by the oxygen in blue hues.
